It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas here in Central California!
With Christmas just two weeks away, joyous clatter is arising throughout the Golden State, with every creature joining in the community’s holiday cheer. While there may not be snow on the ground, the many holiday events happening this year have a way of making even the Grinch smile with glee.
A moment with Santa Claus himself, a magical horse-drawn carriage ride around town, and if you’ve been a good girl or boy a visit to the happiest place on earth – Disneyland! Our story begins with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, steaming mugs of hot chocolate, and candy canes galore.
Families throughout our great state can partake in any one (or two, or three, or more) of the following holiday events. Just be advised that some of the venues listed below may be quite busy (especially Disneyland; but when is it not?) so it’s best to go to your selected event(s) prepared for long lines:
Christmas at Disneyland – Anaheim, CA
There’s nothing quite as spectacular as visiting Disneyland at Christmas, when seasonal decorations add to the park’s charm, and beloved Disney characters dress for the holiday. Even the Haunted Mansion gets a new look as it is decorated to look like it belongs in the film “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Children can even get their picture taken with Santa Mickey!
Holiday Tree Walk & Train Ride – Felton, CA
Get in the holiday spirit by taking a daytime steam train to Bear Mountain’s summit where you can then take a leisurely stroll along a beautifully lit, tree-lined trail. Prior to starting on the holiday tree walk, you can sip on hot cider at the summit. To help families in need, visitors to Roaring Camp may bring a new and unwrapped gift, which will be donated to Toys for Tots.
A Chanticleer Christmas – San Fransciso, CA
A favorite among San Francisco residents and critics alike, the warmth of “A Chanticleer Christmas” are revealed in a telling story of the Christmas Story, which is beloved by all. Performing Gregorian chants and popular tunes as well, you can find this Christmas concert in some of the area’ prettiest venues, including historic Spanish mission buildings and LA’s Disney Concert Hall.
